The History of the Shamrock Social

After her sister, LeeAnn Marie Cox, lost her battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on October 22nd, 2001, Lisa Spicer looked for a way to honor LeeAnn.

In the end, Lisa decided to start a scholarship in LeeAnn's name. After doing some research, Lisa came across the Hancock County Community Foundation.

The LeeAnn Dolick-Cox Memorial Sholarship

This fund was established to create a scholarship for a graduating senior from New Palestine High School who has participated in marching band or color guard during his/her junior and senior years.

Lisa is proud to announce that the minimum funds have been raised and 2008 will be the first year in which the sholarship will be distributed.

The HCCF handles the investment and distribution of the sholarship fund. However, the actual fund-raising is handled by Lisa. For this reason, Lisa decided to organize an event where all of those who were touched by LeeAnn could get together to celebrate her life.

Because LeeAnn was born on St. Patrick's Day, this celebration is held each year on the Saturday closest to March 17th.
